Mother being sued, what can we do?

My mother's being sued by my cousin for roughly $83,000. Three years ago, my aunt (my cousin's mother) had numerous strokes over the course of a few months, and needed someone to stay with her to care for her. My mother, despite her doctors telling her that she was unable to due to her own health, stayed with her almost everyday for two years providing all of her day to day care. In October of 2007, it was decided that she needed to be placed in a nursing home. My mother and cousin were each named her power of attorney. Though my cousin was named power of attorney as well, he did not participate in any meetings with lawyers, the sale of the house, or the sale of her belongings, nor did he provide help in her care. The house was sold for $69,000 with the broker recieving $5,000. The lawyer representing my aunt told my mother to pay off all of my aunt's bills with the money from the sale, which she did. My mother did ask my aunt if she could borrow $5,000, which she allowed her to do. She signed a written consent, however, it was not notarized. But she did repay the money. Now, my cousin is suing my mother, saying that of the money from the sale of the house, that my mother spent around $33,000 on things that were not for my aunt. He's asking for the $33,000 in compensation, as well as $50,000 in punitive damages. Can he do that? What can my mother do to defend herself? Can we counter-sue for abandonment on his part? We have a month to respond to his lawyers one way or the other, so any real help/advice would be appreciated. Sorry for it being so long. Thank you.

Can you still have cancer if your CBC tests results are normal?

I have had an enlarged spleen, high bilirubin count, liver function tests have doubled in 6 days. AST was 50; today it is 101; ALT was 54; today it is 121. My platelets were a little low, I have a cyst on my ovary and an enlarged gut. I am so fatigued all the time, I am using the bathroom a whole lot more, but been constipated as well (prob more info than you care to read - sorry) However, a different dr took a whole new round of cbc tests and those came back normal. Does anyone have any insight as to what is going on? I can't sleep b/c I am worried about what is going on in my body and I feel like I am about to lose my mind.

That's what he wants, and that's his life. As a parent, you should be there to support him with whatever he wants. Supporting him does not necessarily mean, for me, taking what's bad for him. Showing him why its bad is better. I guess, the question should be...How could the mother accept this as part of his son's life. He has committed to being a soldier, i think it's time you commit to supporting what he wants instead.

I don't think you should try to prove anything to anyone! I was in a similar situation...sorta...anyway...I stopped trying to explain my health to everyone because it just made me feel worse about myself...who the ____cares what they think? distance yourself for a while...maybe even a long while. be the best you that you can and focus on what it is that makes you happy. As long as you're not asking them for help then so what??? seriously. You know that old saying..."you'll need me before I'll need you!"...well that's usually true...they will come running to you sooner than later if you turn away from trying to prove yourself to them! good luck and try to stop worrying...it'll only exacerbate your illnesses.

I've seen them all and I think you should watch Schindler's List. Forrest Gump, and Gangs of New York. Those are the most entertaining as well as great films on your list. All the other ones are good but if you're a teenager, like myself, then you probably want something entertaining. I personally love Glory and To Kill A Mockingbird but I recommend the other three. What food would be good for my kitten?

I just recently got this kitten. Actually two days ago. I am very particular about my food. I have my older cat on Prairie Salmon and she does just fine on that. The kitten loves the food but, it is hard for him to eat it because he is teething right now. I tried giving him tiny amounts of canned food to see how he does on that, but he gets really bad diarrhea and really horrendous gas. So 2 years ago i found a 7 week old kitten dieing on the side of the road. i saved him and he has been living with us since. he was the sweetest kindest fellow ever. 10 months ago i had a baby and he was great . Refrigirator Off for months, and I want to sell it?

I moved flats and moved my refrigerator with me. It has been turned off for ten months now! It used to work very efficiently but now I wonder if having turned it off for so long affects the cooling gas, as some friends suggested. Test kit for saltwater?

Recently, my freshwater tank had an outbreak of some unknown disease that wiped everything out. I am now converting my freshwater tank to a fish-only saltwater tank. I already have everything except the testing kit. I have a freshwater kit that tests pH, hardness, alkalinity, nitrite and nitrate levels. Is this sufficient for saltwater since there is no live coral? I know saltwater and freshwater tanks need different levels but I can just look at a different color chart rather than the one that comes on the bottle. But reading the different things on the boxes, there doesnt seem to be much difference. Except that saltwater is twice the price.

Step Dad Busted.....?

My mom has gone through a lot. She lost her mother about 1 year ago and aside from trying to take care of business (granted through power of attorney) concerning that in addition to her own household responsibilities, she's been on an emotional roller coaster. She and my step father have been through a lot but never anything as drastic as what I've discovered. "Someone" has been calling the house private and when me or her answers they hang up. While this looks suspicious, we really never gave it much thought. Considering my step father plays in a band, and works long weekends, my mom never investigated his whereabouts. They've been together for 12 years now, so she pretty much has him figured out. Last weekend, I was at a very expensive restaurant and saw him there with another woman! Help....bit by cat!!!!?

Yesterday my sisters cat bit me. I'm a cat lover, and I have never been chomped on like a piece of tuna by a cat, it was vicious, it didn't let go either, we had to smack it to release it's bite on my hand. Needless to say it caused 4 deep punctures, we immediatly put alcohol and iodine on it and it swelled up to about half the size of an egg, so much so i couldn't bend my fingers. This morning I went to the doctor cause i know how easily cat bites can get infected, and he said it was very serious due to the positioning in my hand and the close proximity to bones and tendons. He put me on antibiotics and drew a circle around the swelling and redness on my hand and told me if it gets any worse I would have to be HOSPITALIZED and put on an iv drip to stop the potentially fatal??? infection! Thats crazy!!! Anyways my hand hurts like hell, and my question is how long do i have to wait before these infections set in......will it be days? hours? weeks?.

I've had asthma most of my life, and have never had a crackling sound, that's more of a liquid in the lungs thing. Mucus in your throat isn't a symptom of asthma either. Depending on how recently you got over your bronchitis, you still could have symptoms or are recovering. Give it a few more weeks before thinking you have asthma. It's possible still that you DO have it, I hope not, go back to the doc in a few weeks if symptoms don't improve.

Can someone tell me why my parents act this way?

Recently I broke up with my ex. We were going out for about three years when it all ended. I was feeling very depressed. I started going out with friends more often then before because I now had the time. Last week I did something I feel kind of bad for. I disappeared for about 5 days. I went and stayed with a friend because I wanted to think. I wanted to get my mind in order to think of the things I needed to, At home I get no privacy, so I never get a chance to just think. I knew my parents were going to be mad but I was willing to take my punishment. When I got back though, I got something completely unexpected. My parents were just happy that I was home. I felt like **** for doing it. My dad seems to sympathize with me the most. I think he knows how it feels to have your first love lost. My mom just talked to me. I was really caught off guard. I don't feel like I deserve to be treated nicely for what I did. I feel bad but don't know what to do about it. I've been writing a lot (I want to become an author) and they've been supporting me. I told them that next year I can still get into university even though I missed a lot of school. I'm happy that they support me so much, but I feel like I don't deserve it. I don't know how to feel. Please, mothers and fathers and anyone who can help, tell me why my parents are acting so nice to me when I've been so stupid?

Did my dog have a heat stroke?

Yesterday, my husband and I were outside doing work around our farm. It was in the high 80s but a breezy day, so not unbearably hot. We let our dog, Rocky, who is a boxer/great pyrenese mix out with us. He played, rested, drank water when we did, and seemed fine. Until later that afternoon, my husband hollered for him to come to us, and he wouldn't, it was like he was tangled in something. So I ran to him,and he was picking up one paw and putting it down but not going anywhere. My husband picked him up and put him in my lap and we drove to his water bucket. He staggered when I first put him down, so I helped him stand at his water bucket and he drank a good bit of water. He was fine afterwards. Besides his staggering, his tongue was rolled out and he had that helpless look in his eyes. Needless to say my eyes were filled with tears. This is his second spell with this. The first time was earlier in July; however, it was at night around 7:30 and the temp was 78 or so. He only ran around for about 20 minutes as my Mom and I rode the trail wagon around the farm, then it was the same symptoms. After water, he was fine then too. I called the vet the first time the next day and she said if he was fine, then there was no need to bring him in. But I am calling tomorrow and making him an appt. I just want to know have you ever had this happened and what was it. I also applied a cold rag to his belly for him and put him in the shade after he could walk, which was right after he drank his water.

Im 15, my brother is 16, we are very close. we have 2 older twin brothers who are turning 18 very soon, but neither of us get on very well with them. our mother died when i was very young, we live with our father, the house is pretty small & the 4 of us share a room. My brothers best friend, who I am also very good friends with, thinks its weird since I'm a girl sharing with my 3 brothers, but there is nowhere else cud I sleep. our father works but we dont have much money. we get some allowance every week, but not much & we normally buy our own clothes. recently i completely messed up a pair of jeans & only had one other pair & was outta money, so i just wore my brothers. he is like 6”2 & I'm 5”4, but the ends were torn so I just kinda pinned them up, I thought they were ok cos I'm into metalhead kind of style lol. but our friend basically said (only not so bluntly) that we were poor & this was a form of neglect. I do very well in school, and so does my brother, but he sometimes drinks with his friends. My father has caught him a few times & ed him with his belt, & he has skipped school a few times & once I did too & we were both caught & the same thing happened. I hated it but we did kinda deserve it, & he has never hit us in any way like punching or kicking for no reason. Questions for optometrists and ophthalmologist?

I am going to be a freshman at Texas A&M and i plan to major in Biology...afterwards i want to become an optometrist...but recently i have become interested in things such as lasik surgery...can i be an optometrist who can perform lasik or do i have to take the extra years of school and become an ophthalmologist?...If i do become an ophthalmologist, how many years of residency do i have to do...and do i get paid during that residency? Also, i'm sure i can handle lasik surgery, but aparently there are alot more types of eye surgery and muscle surgery. Do yall every have any problems with the "disturbing" things you might have to do to an eye? I know i can become an optometrist but am not sure if i should continue to become an ophthalmologist, only because of the four extra years, and some of the surgery procedures....any advice would be greatly appreciated, even if it is about something i didn't mention in this...thanks!!

Will my empoleon do well in the elite 4 in diamond?

thats a good mix of moves but i wouldn't suggest empoleon for guaranteed success. i would of picked turtwig or chimchar since they can learn great moves even though they have a lot of weaknesses. Empoleon is a good tough pokemon but with poor, weak moves. I would bring a strong team of 1 ghost, 1 rock, 1 fire ( I brought rapidash with flash fire so elite flint wont be able to hit me with fire attacks), your empoleon, a strong ground type, and your dialga/palkia. im just saying that Empoleons have a disadvantage when fighting, but with some good moves like yours, it would be a good pokemon (i would get rid of the avalanche)

How do I fix the rear shock squeak on a Mongoose xr-75?

Who is at fault (car accident)?

Sorry, this might be a long post. I was in a car accident yesterday, the guy in the other car was making a left turn onto the street with 2 turn lanes. He was on the outermost turn lane, in the middle of the intersection. He claims he had the green light. I was approaching the intersection, going straight on the same road from the crossroad. I know for sure that I had the green light, as I wait a couple of seconds after the red light turns green before I step on the gas (because of all the red light runners). My lane was empty, and the other guy out of nowhere crashed into me (the damage is on the drivers side door on my car, which was a big dent, but still driveable.) His car (a rental, at that) had more damage, the whole front bumper came off. He claims he had the green light, which I think he may have, but as he was in the intersection the light turned yellow then red, and he got stuck in the intersection (it is a very busy intersection). But then I had the green light, and I guess as he was stuck in the intersection decided he wanted to get into my lane instead, didn't see me and hit me. There are red light cameras at that intersection and I hope that they were working so it could prove that he is liable!! I also heard somewhere that in most collisions, the car with the front end damage is usually at fault. How true is this? Unfortunately I don't have collision on my insurance, so they won't pay for the damage, but I'm hoping his insurance company will see that he was liable and pay the damages in full.

A few other symptoms you can watch out for is jaundice, joint pain, abdominal pain (on the right side), fatigue, nausea, swelling of the liver, and loss of appetite. Those are pretty common if its hepatitis. His counts are high enough that they should be watched but not high enough to stress too much. It's pretty unlikely that it's AIH given his gender and age (most common in teenage and young women). Just get him checked out and if you are still really worried, go to a GI specialist. They are pretty good about finding out what's wrong. Good luck.

I am very flustered. I am newly married. One morning my husband got a hail of missed calls from his mother. He called her back then he went to his computer to check his email. He came over to me and told me his mother emailed him pictures of me. I was confused and when I asked what pictures it turned out they were pictures I texted him a while back before we got married or even lived together and they are very personal and of a ual nature. I had told him to make sure no one else sees them and he told me he deleted them a long time ago. He says she claims she found them on her computer through a picture editing program, and he claims the program dug up those pictures from the hard drive that was taken from his computer and installed into hers for some reason, and that he is very certain he deleted those pictures and has no idea how she still found them. He also insisted that his mother is computer illiterate. I did not talk to her ever since because of the awkwardness I felt but mostly because I am angry about the way she reacted to finding those pictures. I'm still very angry about it. Does anyone know what is the meaning of her emailing the pictures to my husband and calling him so much to tell him about it? She didn't give a clear answer when asked about why she did it.

My 3 yr old has constant rashes, creams don't work. I am getting frustrated with her doctor. What do I do?

For the last three summers she breaks out with rashes on her back, neck, face, arms, etc. But none of these places all at once. It usually starts small and spreads. She digs at her ears until they bleed, but she never has an ear infection. I have had her to the Drs repeatedly. They have tried Singulair, multiple creams, and preventative lotions. They did a first step allergy test, which was negative, but they wouldn't do the second step allergy test (injections under skin) due to her age. This last time to the Dr, they suggested preservative free foods and a fungal cream. Why would I do a special diet if she only has this in the summer? Why wouldn't they do the rest of the allergy test? They also told me to mix alcohol with vinegar and wipe her ears with it, it burned and she screamed. I can't keep putting her through this. Has anyone else dealt with anything similar? Any thoughts? Oh, and the fungal cream has clearly printed warnings that it is not for use in under 17! Help!

How to sync moved iTunes library onto iPod?

I bought a new laptop and downloaded iTunes. My old desktop had all of my 800+ songs on it, so I copied all of my songs on to a 8GB memory stick deal and put all the songs on to my new laptop's iTunes library. I told it to sync and it asked me if I wanted to transfer, I said yes. Then it told me a ton of my songs could not be synced because they couldn't be found. Why can't truckers slow down their large vehicles before they enter a city, instead of using loud jake brakes?

truck drivers, like most drivers that are not senior citizens, like to go as fast as possible as long as possible. and for truckers it is more important, their jobs are on making good time. the sooner they finish a run the sooner they get paid and the sooner they can start their next run. Dollars and cents. Lastly using transmission to slow down revs the engine up and burns more fuel. now coasting long before town would use the least fuel, but that would take longer. So the most econimical way is too use those loud brakes.

What kind of workout schedule/routine should I be doing in order to help me lose 30lb? Im a 5'4 Male, I weigh 182 lb and im 26 yrs old. Right now I am currently working out 5 days a week for about an hour a day. i start off with 20-25 minutes on the treadmill ...running at about a 6.0 treadmill speed. Then I hit the free weights and work on 2 body parts for like 20-25 minutes and then sometimes after I am finished with everything, I will hop on the elyptical glyder for about 1 mile(thats about 11 minutes). I thnk I eat healthy?....Breakfast I usually have either some Quaker Instant oatmeal or 2 hard boiled eggs(1 whole egg and 1 just egg white) with some OJ and a peice of whole grain toast. For a snack 2-3 hr later, I will have a fat free Yoplait yogurt. For lunch, I usually have a whole grain turkey sandwich with some Doritos and water or juice and then an apple or an Orange for desert. For afternoon snack, another Orange or apple or just a 90 calories granola bar. Then I hit the gym
