Eye infection, can I go to my regular doctor or optometrist? In South Africa.?

I have an eye infection in both eyes. At first it was only in my one eye, I thought it was an eye cold (I had a sore throat for 3 days), but it's still there after almost a week, and this morning I saw that it's now in the other eye as well. They're not itchy, just very, very red. They're also blurry, sensitive and a bit sore. Can I go to my regular doctor or to the optometrist? I live in South Africa. Thank you.
