Test kit for saltwater?

Recently, my freshwater tank had an outbreak of some unknown disease that wiped everything out. I am now converting my freshwater tank to a fish-only saltwater tank. I already have everything except the testing kit. I have a freshwater kit that tests pH, hardness, alkalinity, nitrite and nitrate levels. Is this sufficient for saltwater since there is no live coral? I know saltwater and freshwater tanks need different levels but I can just look at a different color chart rather than the one that comes on the bottle. But reading the different things on the boxes, there doesnt seem to be much difference. Except that saltwater is twice the price.
