Why embarr people by pointing out spelling mistakes?

If people fail to grasp the concept of the spell-check, they deserve public ridicule. Those amongst us who are literate take bad spelling as a personal insult. English is my third language and I am far from perfect with it, but some of the replies here are barely legible.
